Named after Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, selenite is a crystal form of gypsum, soft enough to scratch with a fingernail, yet capable of growing into long, glowing blades that can stretch several feet in caves and mineral deposits. Its translucence lets light pass almost straight through, giving it a quiet, moonlit glow unlike most other stones.

Selenite has long been linked to clarity and renewal, many crystal practitioners believe it doesn't hold onto energy the way other stones do, and use it instead to cleanse and reset the crystals placed near it.

Connected to the crown chakra, selenite is known as a stone of calm and mental clarity. It's said to quiet the mind, ease overthinking, and restore a sense of peace. Soft, luminous and endlessly serene, selenite carries the stillness of moonlight.
